By setting up my HT to communicate with one of the two bands on my V71, I can use 70 cm to communicate between myself and my vehicle radio, and then use my vehicle radio on 2 meters to communicate back to HQ or net control, either via simplex, or the repeater we're using.

For example, I have a Kenwood V71a that can be used on 2 meters and 70 centimeters, and allows for cross band repeating, which I use during public service events. D-Star and C4FM are both standards also used in Ham Radio.

I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it looks like you may see DMR and Dual-Band as the same thing they are not the same thing.ĭMR is a Commercial radio standard, a specific set of rules and instructions for encoding/decoding analog to digital and back.
